ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES@#To explore the species, quantity and distribution of diatoms in Ningbo three-river watershed during summer and to provide scientific basis for forensic examination of drowning cases in the waters of Ningbo.@*METHODS@#Water samples were collected in July and August of 2015. Fourteen water sampling points were selected from the Yao River, the Fenghua River and the Yong River. The morphological features of diatom species and dominant diatoms were distinguished by microscope.@*RESULTS@#A total of 16 species of diatoms were detected in the Yao River, the Fenghua River and the Yong River. Melosira was the dominant species in the Yao River, and the quantity and richness were higher than in other rivers. The richness of Cyclotella in the Yong River was higher than in other rivers. The richness of Pinnularia and Licmophora were higher in the Fenghua River than in the Yao River and the Yong River.@*CONCLUSIONS@#The species and proportion of diatom is different in each river. Database of the species and relative composition for the diatoms in corresponding river is established, which may provide data support for forensic examination of drowning cases in Ningbo three-river watershed.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To observe the changes of cardiac functional indicators in spontaneously hypertension rats (SHR) suffered by struck injuries of soft tissues, form which to discuss the significance in relationship between injury and disease.@*METHODS@#SHRs were divided into four groups according to the degree, and whose thigh was struck with the homemade hit instrument. Then the blood pressure, heart rate as well as serum biochemical indicators (CK, CK-Mb, LDH, Cr, BUN, HBDH and AST) were examined. In addition, the morphological changes of heart, brain and kidney were also observed.@*RESULTS@#The observe values of heart rate and blood pressure of SHRs seemed have relation to the degree of damage, but there were no statistically significance between different hit degree groups. In terms of serum biochemical indicators, all seven indicators of the hit group had significant difference with that of the control group, and the AST CK, CK-MB levels were difference between the group of different strike degree.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Struck injuries of soft tissues can result in forepart damage of cardiac muscle. The biochemical indicators reflect the degree of injury, and they could be used as a type of objective enzymology indicators for analysis of the relationship between injury and disease in forensic practice.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To research the connection of the minor's bone age and chronological age and age for penal responsibility, to discuss the application of Gu's Atlas and Li Guozhen's Percent Numeration to measure the bone age in the cases of immature criminals and the applying value.@*METHODS@#33 healthy youths, 12-19 years old, were selected, whose left wrists were photographed with X-rays. According to the radiographic appearance of the maturity indicators, the bone age of every person was determined respectively by the Gu's Atlas and Li Guozhen's Percent Numeration, and then compared with his/her chronological age. CMH test and Pearson test were used to evaluate precision and accuracy on concluding the immature age for penal responsibility.@*RESULTS@#Li Guozhen's Percent Numeration was more precise than Gu's Atlas on extrapolating the chronological age of the youth, P<0.005. On extrapolating the age for penal responsibility, the accuracy of the former was 90.91%, and the latter was 78.79%, but the statistic result did not show significant difference (P>0.1).@*CONCLUSION@#Both measurements can apply in determining the criminal cases of immature youths.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo investigate the polymorphisms of 15 STR loci of Han population in Yan'an.

METHODSBlood samples were obtained from 100 unrelated Han individuals in Yan'an. DNA templates were screened by AmpF/STR Identifiler kit and ABI3100Avant DNA analyzer.

RESULTSThe allele frequencies of 15 STR loci ranged from 0.005 to 0.550, and the genotype frequencies ranged from 0.010 to 0.310. The combined match probability was 2.5x10(-17) and combined EPP was 0.999999999.

CONCLUSIONSThe 15 STR loci used in this study were highly polymorphic in Han population in Yan'an and suitable for population study and forensic cases in this region.
